Nanichi’s current largest and most vibrant line, Nitou is inspired by the unique culture of the Caribbean; from the materials used to the diverse shapes, sizes and colors. Nitou, a word derived from the Garifuna’s, descendants of the Caribs, Arawaks, and African people means “My Sister” and thus Nitou caters solely to the fashion desires of the women bringing the essence of the Caribbean into their worlds.
The inspiration for this collection is the vibrant scenery if the islands; from the lush lands to the magnificent sunsets, down to the red ants that march the earth. The materials used in this collection have been chosen purposely to depict the materials used in traditional craft as well as day to day activities. Many of the pieces are made from wood, coconut, thread and seashells.
Nitou is continuously growing but will be completely reinvented just in time for the New Year.
